  TEAM

Smita P. Patel, R.Ph.

Smita P. Patel, R.Ph. is a registered Pharmacist and Ayurvedic Practitioner, specializing in therapeutic healing.  Smita has dedicated the last 15 years of her career to improving the quality of care for those in her community and beyond.

Smita’s healing philosophy incorporates her Ayurvedic medical practice with various healing modalities such as Nutrition, Yoga, Reiki, Acupuncture, and Massage in order to balance the mind, body, and spirit of each of her clients.  The goal of her consults is to help her clients balance their own healing systems to reach optimal health.

Smita began her integrative pharmacy and wellness center in 1993 following a personal health crisis.  In 1988 she received a grim diagnosis. Smita went through a variety of Western medical approaches that ended up making her situation worse.  She also found the lack of emotional support in the medical system disheartening.  Smita then traveled back to her roots in India, where she embraced the traditional Ayurvedic medical system and healed completely from her illness.

Based on her personal experiences, Smita entered a formal study of Ayurveda.  Understanding the deeply emotional aspects of illness, Smita became the kind of Practitioner that finds more comfort in hanging up her white coat and coming in front of the counter to counsel her patients and listen to them like a friend. Her form of healthcare integrates Western science with Eastern philosophy and treats the patient as a whole rather than the symptoms. Recently there has been a rising demand for herbal medicines, homeopathic remedies, and Ayurvedic medicine especially in these times of rising health care costs. Smita has acted as a bridge between her patients and their doctors by bringing understanding of the benefits of natural medicine especially when integrated with modern, western medication.

Smita specializes in disease management through lifestyle modification for such ailments as diabetes, hypertension, allergies, ADHD, and menopausal symptoms.

Smita received her B.S. degree in Pharmacy in 1988.  She is also a member of the American Herbalist Guild and the Ayurvedic Society of India.
